Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from spring of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has secured 21 championships at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an better serve.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
